# Crawl payment settlement

## What exists today

[Pay per crawl](/docs/pay-per-crawl) is signalling only. AgentGate answers
`402 Payment Required` with `crawler-price`, accepts a signed
`crawler-exact-price` or `crawler-max-price` offer, answers
`crawler-charged`, and records each accepted payment in the decision log
with the label `agentgate:agent:payment:accepted` and a signed receipt. The
site operator settles with each agent operator out of band, from that log.

## What is planned

Settlement inside AgentGate: turning accepted offers into amounts owed per
agent, and reconciling them with a payment provider. It depends on the
usage ledger and billing work on the roadmap, and no design has been
agreed yet. Until then, nothing on this page is available.
